Interview with Geronimo Inutiq
Lucy Tulugarjuk interviews Geronimo Inutiq, who works in the field of electronic music and art. LIVE on October 21, 2020.
Geronimo Inutiq has experience as an artist in the fields of electronic music production, deejaying, performance, film, video, digital images, and multimedia installation. He has worked in collaboration with many community-driven projects and cultural agencies. His work relates to identity constructs – often from the point of view of a multicultural aboriginal man – and in reflection of a metropolitan lifestyle. In 2017 he was a recipient of the Reveal award from the Hnatyshyn Foundation.
Born in what was Frobisher Bay, NWT (now known as Iqaluit, Nunavut), Geronimo has exhibited across the country in multiple prestigious multimedia installations. As a cultural worker and project agent he can bring events to successful completion and helped facilitate and participate in important social dialogues. Now based in Montreal, he is known for his innovative work in remixing Inuit music through his former alias Madeskimo or DJ Mad Eskimo.
